African Promise wins staff vote

Staff at Aspect Capital have voted African Promise to be the beneficiary charity of their fundraising day on the 26th September when they will be aiming to raise at least £20,000 by undertaking an Ultra Iron Man style challenge.

The challenge will see two teams of staff compete in relay to cover the most distance across rowing machines, static bikes and treadmills over the course of one working day, with the aim of covering a combined distance of more than 1,200 km (roughly the distance from London to Vienna).

Aspect Capital has generously supported African Promise for many years through their annual charitable donations but this is the first time that we have been chosen by staff to be their charity of the year, having been edged out in the vote back in 2012 on the only other occasion that we have been shortlisted.

The company will be matching every penny raised by staff on a £-for-£ basis which could mean a total amount raised of at least £40,000. However, in recent years staff have exceeded all fundraising targets and the fundraising day has raised an average of £56,000 for their chosen charities which have included such notable organisations as Cancer Research UK, Outward Bound Trust and Magic Breakfast.

We are very thankful to staff for voting us their charity of the year for 2017, albeit by a margin of just one vote, and wish all those who are competing in the challenge later in the month the very best of luck!
