Teachers and pupils views...
9th January 2012
Over the last few months we have received a few letters and emails
from teachers and pupils in Kenya. It is they, our beneficiaries, who can
describe the impact of our work best and we are delighted to hear what
they have to say - we hope you will enjoy reading their words as well.

Pupils
The following are extracts from a letter from Mwakuleghwa Risper, a
a year 8 pupil from Jora.
"Indeed we have so many benefits in our class. Our classroom has really
changed after being renovated. Our class before was so old that even
when it rained you could hear a drop of water. We were really
suffering. After the renovation we now have a good classroom.

We used to sit three pupils [to one desk] but now every pupil has their
own desk and chair with locker.
We also have a library in school. Many pupils always go to read in the
library. For me I have really learned a lot because the books in the
library have helped me in knowing more things. I would like more
textbooks!"

Teachers
"Thank you for your continued support and we assure you a big change
is being realised and soon you are going to realise the results of your
sacrifice and commitment."
Mr Nicholas Mutui, Headteacher, Jora Primary School

"On behalf of the SMC [school management committee] and the teaching
staff at Kiteghe Primary School I would like to give my appreciation to
you for the projects you have initiated at this school...they are a blessing
to our institution. We have seen a great improvement in the academic
standards of our learners. Learning has become very enjoyable and
children are always enjoying the resources you have contributed.

We thank you very much and would like to continue having you in our
institution for as much time as possible."
Mr Eliza Mzugulo, Headteacher, Kiteghe Primary School

"I would like to most sincerely thank you for the very good work you
have done by building and renovating the school structures. Thanks so
much for constructing the head teachers office and for the plan showing
what you intend to put up in the school from this year 2012 to 2014. I
wish you success as you embark on these projects."

"Our children are really motivated to learn because of the conducive
environment in classes and learning materials you have made available
in the school. We as teachers are also encouraged by your efforts and
motivated to work harder than ever"
Mr Alan Guni, teacher, Jora Primary School
