• Today we've collected 100 tree seedlings from our friends and neighbours @wildlifeworkscarbon and delivered them to Ngambenyi Primary to be planted around the school compound during the current rainy season.
.
.
These seedlings have been generously donated to the school by Wildlife Works as part of their programme to promote reforestation across their project area, which includes the Kasigau community where we work. Some of them will be planted to create what we hope will become a tree-lined avenue from the school gate up to the main reception/parking area!

  • Nyama choma (roast meat) on the menu for a team lunch today before our Director returns to the UK after his short visit to Kasigau.
  • Preparing for the rains 🌧💧🌱
.
.
With the rainy season just around the corner, parents and pupils at Kiteghe Primary have been busy preparing the soils in anticipation of another round of planting.
.
.
This patch of bare ground in the central courtyard area at the school has been turned over with manure and lightly watered with rainwater already harvested in the schools new tanks from the small showers that have been around over the last few days. Once the rains arrive it will be planted with grass which will ultimately help reduce dust/mud and control soil erosion and run off from rainwater.

  • Our Director paid a visit to Kiteghe Primary this morning to deliver a printer/copier, and ended up staying for lunch with the teaching staff!
  • Many hands make light work!

.
We delivered some steel hand-wash tank stands to Ngambenyi Primary today and some of the older pupils helped with the off-loading.
.
.
These represent another step in our difficult journey towards providing safe and hygienic sanitation facilities at the school.
  • 🐘 Last night a small herd of elephants were out for a stroll on the road between Jora & Rukanga. 😳
  • All set up (finally!) and ready to deliver to Kisimenyi Primary later this week! 🖨📃
  • This morning some minor repairs were completed to some water storage tanks at Ngambeny Primaryi; this evening the rains duly arrived!! .

  • Since 2008 we have installed more than 375,000 litres of rainwater storage capacity across our partner schools. 💧🚰
.
.
However, in an area of Kenya where water is a precious resource, every drop of rainwater is valuable and we would dearly love to be able to help our schools harvest more. .
.
This #WorldWaterDay please consider supporting our Water4All campaign (link in bio). Every £75 raised and donated provides an additional 1,000 litres of capacity. .

  • In case you didn't know...
.
.
We're quite proud of what we've achieved at Ngambenyi Primary with the help of @hazelsfootprints and whilst we don't usually plaster our logo all over our partner schools, we've made an exception on this occasion!
