• 📷: Water tank bases under construction at Kiteghe Primary.
.
.
With the water tanks having been delivered last week, work is now underway to construct bases for these new tanks and others that we are reinstating/upgrading. We are on course to have all the tanks ready to harvest up to 70,000 litres of rainwater ahead of the expected arrival of the 'long' rains in April.
  • 📷 Library improvements underway at Kiteghe Primary.
.
.
We are giving the library that we built at Kiteghe in 2010 a bit of much-needed TLC. We are building a retaining wall as the library was built into a slope and the bank had collapsed. When schools close for the Easter holidays we will also do some exterior repainting work.
.
.
It is very difficult for our partner schools, with the very limited funds they receive from the government, to undertake even routine maintenance work. We maintain long-term relationships with our partner schools and continue to support their upkeep as much as we can.
  • One step closer to clean water! 💧🚰
.
.
We've begun to take delivery of water tanks at Kiteghe Primary School where we are upgrading the rainwater harvesting system and increasing total storage capacity to 90,000 litres (nearly 400 litres per pupil). This should help ensure a continuous supply of clean water for drinking, cooking, cleaning and irrigation.

.

We believe that it's not just the buildings that make for an inspiring and conducive learning environment. Building permanent pathways and doing other hard landscaping works helps to control pupil movement and to create grassed and planted areas which reduce dust/mud, improve drainage, minimise soil erosion caused by heavy rains, and attract wildlife including birds and insects. We all work better when we are surrounded by nature. 🐛🦎🌳🌱🌺🦋🐝
  • HOME TIME! 🛎🕓
.
.
📷: As one of our most isolated partner schools Ngambenyi Primary is a true 'bush' school and most pupils face a long walk to and from school. We exist to help ensure that walk is a worthwhile one.

  • LUNCH IS SERVED!

Since this photo was taken we have constructed a multi-purpose dining hall adjacent to the kitchen pictured here so that the children can enjoy their lunch in relative comfort, shaded from the ☀️and 🌧.
