New ambassador appointed

We are delighted to announce the appointment of entrepreneur, speaker and author David Harkin as a charity ambassador.

David, a keen runner in his spare time, has been supporting African Promise since he ran the London Marathon for us in 2018, raising more than £3,000 in the process, and he has subsequently become our unofficial runner and taken part in a number of other challenge events to raise funds for and highlight our cause, including this year’s Big Half Marathon alongside five friends and family members.

Founder (at the age of just 26) of the award-winning educational social enterprise 7billionideas and now dedicating his life to his passion as Group CEO, David has much in common with our own founder and Director, and he says of his introduction to the charity and to Charles:

“Ever since I first heard of the work of Charles and African Promise, I wanted to do whatever I could to support the charity. I meet lots of entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs, but not many people like Charles who has built a charity that is making a difference at such a young age.”

David becomes our third ambassador, joining Suzanne Payne and Carrie Hall Schalter in being recognised for his efforts to go above-and-beyond to raise funds for and to raise the profile of the charity, and he says of his appointment:

“I’m delighted to become an ambassador of African Promise and promise to raise money for the charity as often as I can by using my two legs running half and full marathons.”

True to his word, David will again be raising funds for us when he takes on the London Marathon for a third time in April 2020!
