Statement from the Trustees regarding fraudulent donations

We are aware of a number of direct debits for amounts between £500 and £1000 that have been set up fraudulently to African Promise.

Whilst these have been made using the names and contact details of real people, it appears at this stage that the bank account details being used are not linked to those individuals. We are working with our donation processing partner CAF Donate to contact these individuals and to investigate this further as a matter of urgency, including identifying if the bank account details used are genuine.

If you have received an email from CAF confirming a direct debit donation to us that you have not set up yourself or believe you have been a victim of this attempted fraud please contact us immediately at hello@africanpromise.org.uk or on 02071932137 or contact CAF directly on 03000 123000.

*Please note that any possible data breach has not originated from African Promise as the name and contact details of the ‘donors’ are not those of any we hold on record and, in any case, we do not receive nor store any bank account or payment card information on our systems. All donor contact details are held on our secure database in line with our Privacy Policy and Data Protection Policy which are available here.
